Alicia Nicole Thompson

Alicia Nicole Thompson is a native of Huntsville, AL. She is a freelance dancer, choreographer and educator. As Co-Artistic Director of INNERGY Inc. and Director of Education at Dance Theatre of Huntsville (DTHSV) she is committed to providing equitable access to the arts in Alabama and beyond.

 

Alicia Nicole began her training at DTHSV and later attended the University of Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, cum laude. Her artistic journey has led her to make her mark in concert and commercial dance. She has toured nationally and internationally with Dallas Black Dance Theatre: Encore!, appeared in films such as the HBO film "Bessie" and performed in various musical theater and opera productions. Alicia Nicole prides herself in her award winning choreography and the impact she has made as an educator. She is a former educator for Fulton County Schools in Atlanta, GA. She is a past choreographer for the Dance Canvas Performance Series and the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre at the University of Alabama. Also, she was a guest teaching artist for the Black Girls Lead! Conference x Black Girls Rock! in collaboration with SLMDances. 

More recently, Alicia Nicole was selected as a Dance Fellow for the Alabama State Council on the Arts which funded her research of dances of the African Diaspora. She also was selected as an American Ballet Theatre RISE Scholar and is now a certified ABT Teacher. As a newly certified Dunham Technique Teacher, Alicia is excited for what is to come in her career as she continues to teach her philosophy of the importance of diversity in dance, attention to detail and combining mind, body, and spirit in all aspects of dance.
