DIANE EVENOU
Diane Evenou is a Haitian-Canadian dancer and teacher based in Montreal, Canada. Her dance journey began in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. There, she studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Haitian Folkloric Dances and Dunham Technique with Rachel Tavernier (née Jean-Louis) eventually becoming a teacher and rehearsal assistant.
In the early 1990’s, Diane studied Dunham Technique with its founder and leader Katherine Dunham, and Grandmasters Vanoye Aikens, Tommy Gomez, Lucille Ellis, Pearl Reynolds and also with Talley Beatty.
With a professional career spanning over two decades, she has excelled in various latin dance forms. She studied Mambo, Salsa and Lady Styling through numerous workshops, conventions and classes with renowned teachers such as Alberto Azpuru, Caroline Paré, Rae Bohay, Audrey Gaussiran from Montreal, Canada and Eddie & Maria Torres from New York. From 2010 to 2023, she trained and performed extensively as an original member of the Audrey’s Angels Dance Troupe. During her time with the troupe, she was entrusted with the position of rehearsal assistant, furthering her experience in the role.
Diane's commitment to dance is reflected through her study of various dance styles. Her training includes Argentine Tango, Flamenco and House. Diane is currently honing her skills in Afro-Cuban folkloric dance under Osmani Terry, further deepening her artistic repertoire.
Diane’s goal is to start a Dunham movement in Montreal.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Université du Québec à Montréal, illustrating her dual dedication to the arts and academics.
